Alright...I've had my Mac Book Pro for a couple of weeks now, and it's going well. Here's what I've accomplished (or not) so far.
Now, I've been unsuccessful getting the Parallels image of my old Alienware hard drive going, but that's because that install of Windows from the old Alienware is in an unstable state. Basically, the image begins to boot and then doesn't quite make it. If I spent some time, I could probably fix that "install" of Windows, but I've downloaded VMWare Fusion instead, because it's my understanding that it makes use of my dual core processor. I'm doing a fresh install of Windows and will then reload my old software onto that.
So, as I type, I'm logged into a Citrix session, I have a virtual Windows session going and I'm running my browser and email on the Mac Book Pro...and it's not even sweating. Pretty damn cool.
Also, I've downloaded Ableton Live 7.x and Traktor DJ 3.x and installed them, and they both run phenomenally on the Mac Book Pro (using Mac OS 10.5.5). In Ableton, I've had 8 loops going with reverb, EQ, delay and compression on all of them without a hitch. No choking. No slow screen updates. Nothing like I had running Ableton 5.x on WinXP on the old Alienware.
I've also downloaded and installed Arkaos VJ. I haven't run Traktor and/or Ableton with Arkaos running at the same time yet. I'll be testing that in the next few days though and update the results here.Labels: Mac Book Pro
