:: Saturday, May 31, 2003 :: Went to see 'The Italian Job' tonight. Good music in that. Nice mixes. Picked up a new drum riff that I'm going to make with Cubase and turn into a loop. Basically it's a 1-3-1-2-1 rim shot pattern. In the movie there was contant, fast high hats played with it. Sounded cool. I'm staying at the Maririott Orlando World Center which has high speed internet access which is cool as hell. On top of that, there's a Starbucks in the lobby (i.e., a ready source of caffeine). Too bad I have to work.:: Friday, May 30, 2003 :: Oh yeah. Spoke with Discmakers yesterday and signed off on my cover art, so my 3-song demo titled "This Is How Flat The World Is" is in production now! Ok. I just posted 3 times in the space of 10 minutes (this makes 4 times). I'll be out of town for 5 days. So these postings keep me up to date. Right? Right? Anyone? This Belongs Somewhere Else is my latest down tempo song. It features wahwah guitars, funky bass and drums and DJ fx. It's cool. It's groovy. It's on mp3.com. And This Belongs Somewhere Else. Here's the Gods Of Music review of Metropolitan. I think the reviewer slams me, but in a nice way. Whatever. Raw42 rejected the song too, so there you go. Back to the laptop. No Longer Meditative is the song featured on ZeD currently. No Longer Meditative is a drum'n'bass piece with mellow key boards, perky percussion and powerful basslines.:: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 :: I'm featured on ZeD again.:: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 :: Luciano Berio died today in Rome. In 1954 he founded the Studio di Fonologia Musicale which, under his direction, became one of the top electronic music centres in Europe. He was a pioneer in the use of electronic and avant-garde techniques of composition. Work continues on "The Groovy Song" (as I have dubbed my latest down tempo piece). Messing with the DJ fx now. Didn't like the way they sounded before. I'm currently making them more "groovy".:: Monday, May 26, 2003 :: Got Cubase installed. Playing with it now for the first time.:: Sunday, May 25, 2003 :: Frost, an ambient song I did 2 years ago, is currently #1 on the Chicago Ambient chart, #11 on the Chicago Electronic chart and #184 on the World ambient chart on mp3.com.:: Saturday, May 24, 2003 :: Going to KC today to visit my sister. Almost finished with my "groovy" song. Picking up Cubase while I'm there (happy birthday to me)!:: Friday, May 23, 2003 :: Spoke with Discmakers yesterday. Went over corrections to the packaging. Getting another proof of that. But production has started on the demo CD itself.:: Thursday, May 22, 2003 :: Finally remembered to send off corrections to Discmakers yesterday. Just some slight changes on the packaging. Had it ready to go Monday and left it at the office on my desk until yesterday. I hate that.:: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 :: Have been working too much at work to work much on music. So I simply report rankings instead...:: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 :: I now have a site on Zebox...why not? World Drum N Bass:: Monday, May 19, 2003 :: Looks like some of my old ambient songs are making a comeback. Actually it looks like it was a D R E A M D A Z E oldies weekend for someone. Hell, I'm on the House and Industrial charts, and I haven't produced any songs of those genres since 2000. Even my 20-minute techno Cowfish Opus trilogy and old crap trance songs are getting listens. Go figure!:: Sunday, May 18, 2003 :: Worked all day yesterday. Only did a little bit of work on my next song. Right now it is promising to be very groovy.:: Friday, May 16, 2003 :: Metropolitan is being featured on the ZeD home page! First time I've done rankings in a looong time...:: Thursday, May 15, 2003 :: Hot damn, I love Poland! Get me some pierogis! Quick! Worked from 6:15 AM until 9:15 PM today. 15 hours. No time for nothin'.:: Wednesday, May 14, 2003 :: Ok, so I get a call from a sound engineer at Discmakers today. He says he's listened to my demo - and I stop him right there, and say, "Let me guess. It needs some parametric eq and some compression." He says, "Yeah, basically." And I respond, "I've been getting a lot of that lately.":: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 :: Metropolitan, a 200 BPM drum'n'bass piece featuring jazz bass, drums and guitar, is now available on mp3.com.:: Monday, May 12, 2003 :: Wow. I just figured out EQ and Compression. Check out this article. Handy. The 3-song demo was FedEx-ed to Discmakers today.:: Sunday, May 11, 2003 :: Someday mp3.com will get off their ass and update their damn site and the song I submitted 4 days ago will be available.:: Saturday, May 10, 2003 :: It's more like it is now than it has ever been.:: Friday, May 09, 2003 :: Playing with ambient drum'n'bass. Went out. Now business cards. Therefore, no promoting. Oh, well.:: Thursday, May 08, 2003 :: Missed posting yesterday. Oh, well. Too busy anyhow.:: Tuesday, May 06, 2003 :: Got the finished layout of my CD. Have the songs picked (3-songs for the demo). Will be sending it off to discmakers shortly.:: Monday, May 05, 2003 :: I'm going to change my DJ name from DJ Stumpy to DJ Dazed.:: Sunday, May 04, 2003 :: Actually worked a lot this weekend (on work work, not fun music-related work). However, I did get an 800# and a PO Box to list on the demo I'll be sending out, and I was able to squeeze in about an hour on a new jazz-influenced drum 'n' bass piece I'm working on - so the weekend wasn't a total waste musically.:: Saturday, May 03, 2003 :: Getting a PO Box and an 800 number today to list as contact info on my demo CD.:: Friday, May 02, 2003 :: Chicago Electronic Got the proofs for my CD demo. Look good. Slight changes only. The demo will be titled 'This Is How Flat The World Is'.
