I'm busy downloading all my songs of mp3.com right now before it goes away Tuesday. Just want to be sure that I have copies of all of them.

Mechaniceluard is now available on electronicscene.

Here's what Raw42 says about it:
Meaty electro robotic body-popping early fsol-styled avant garde track with deep snarling analogue synths, zaps galore and other wild and crazy goings on.

Eleanor, Again and Again is now available on electronicscene.

Here's what Raw42 says about it:
Frantic, manic drum and bass melee, with crazy beats, cheesy piano riffs and gnarly bassline growls.

Simple Girl Simple Dress is finally available online at electronicscene.

Again here's what Raw42 says about it:
Abstract, experimental-styled electronic track that jumps from different beat patterns. Has interesting synth undertones. Adventerous, but very listenable.

Atmosherocephalic is now number 17 on electronicscene down tempo chart, and Automobiling Jazz Dancing Nightlifers is number 32.

So this is how the music industry has changed already.

From all over the world:
I purchase virtual synths, sound editing programs and sequencers electronically and download them to my laptop.

In the US:
I make sounds with the virtual synths. I chop them into loops with the sound editing programs. I arrange the loops into songs with a sequencing program. I render them to a "high res" mp3 with the sequencing program.

In the US & UK:
I upload the song from the US to my publisher in the UK. My publisher emails a "yes" or "no" for acceptance. The contract is electronically signed. The publisher releases the song for digital distribution.

From all over the world:
Consumers buy my songs, download them and pay for them electronically with their credit cards.

In the UK & US:
The publisher pays me electronically from the UK directly into my checking account in the US.

Results:
Never has a physical good changed hands. Nothing but membranes vibrating air has resulted in the physical world.

Wild...

My publisher Raw42 today put forward my song Atmosherocephalic for consideration for a water commercial in the UK.

Here's what Raw42 says about Atmosherocephalic.

"Atmosherocephalic" - Down Tempo
No real intro as such with this one, just straight in with lighty jumpy beats, smooth floating underwater-styled fx and a deep sub bassline...very groovy with a definite non-aggressive feel to the whole track.

So, for D R E A M D A Z E this is a historic moment. For the first time ever (to my knowledge), I've had more listens from a country other than the United States than from the U.S. And the winner is...

South Africa!

So next year, I'm pulling for South Africa in the Rugby World Cup!

More stats from the previous week...

The reason I'm even posting this is because I'd never heard of Bouvet Island before - but the CIA Factbook comes through again.

Bouvet Island is an uninhabited volcanic island southwest of South Africa almost entirely covered by glaciers and difficult to approach. It was discovered in 1739 by a French naval officer after whom the island was named. No claim was made until 1825, when the British flag was raised. In 1928, the UK waived its claim in favor of Norway, which had occupied the island the previous year. In 1971, Bouvet Island and the adjacent territorial waters were designated a nature reserve. Since 1977, Norway has run an automated meteorological station on the island.

I guess one of the Norse weathermen there gave me a listen. Heh.

Worked a bit on a couple of new songs yesterday (same ones I've been working on for a while). On the song closest to being finished, I'm in the process of redoing the synth line used. The one I had didn't quite fit. It was 2 "organ-y", and after spending time trying to add fx to it to make it sound rougher, I gave up and am looking for a new high range riff. But once, I find it I'll drop it in, and I'll be good to go.

Just spent the last hour or so remixing the theme to the Transformers TV show. Just for giggles. And I'm not going to post it. A friend emailed me a MIDI. Just to enjoy listening to. So I figured, sometimes you just got to say, "what the f*ck." So I did it. And I'm not ashamed. But I'm not going to post it. I'm just going to use it for personal use. I don't care if you email me for a copy. I won't email it to you.

Had a good Halloween yesterday. Got home and dressed up as an alien (green, elongated feet and hands plus green mask), took the kid trick-or-treating (he went as Superman) and then hung with the neighbors. Halloween IS the best holiday. Had great weather for it too. There were a lot of superheroes out last night.

On an almost music-related note, I've installed SalesLogix and now have to restore my SQL database back up, and I can start mailing out demos again...
