Headed off to KY this weekend. Should be able to finish off a song and upload it on Tuesday when I get back. So a new song should be ready on the site by Wednesday of next week. I'll be off the blog though. Apparently they don't have much internet infrastructure down there...

Well, I'm getting bombarded with some major listens these days. Not sure why. Really. Haven't really been promoting any differently. The only thing that I can figure is that once you get a song in one of the Top 40 charts then that song just pulls up the rest of your songs.

Right now I have 7 of the top 100 Chicago Electronic songs on mp3.com. That's a new record! Previously I've had one or maybe two simultaneously. But seven! Whoa!

It's also cool that I have 3 of the top 5 songs!

Whoever has been listening has brought a couple of old songs back to life too. Imbibe is number 13 on the Chicago Dance chart and Revel is number 26 on the Chicago House chart (though technically it's a breakbeat song - have to remember to change the genre on that one...)

But I think the most exciting for me is that Frost is number 189 for all electronic songs world wide on mp3.com. That rocks (well, at 70 bpm...).

All the significant rankings follow...

World Electronic

Metaphysical Echo is now available on mp3.com.

Metaphysical Echo is a mellow (70 BPM) ambient tune featuring vocal swells (swell vocals?), humming viola, a violin bow on guitars (he played it left hand) and hip hop beats.

Frost is number 12 on the worldwide ambient chart and number 915 for ALL songs on mp3.com. Not sure who's listening to my stuff lately, but it's wild. I haven't really been promoting any differently (outside of daily blogging) and a lot of my stuff has garnered a lot of interest.

Bayou is number 69 on the worldwide ambient chart on mp3.com.

Slough is still up there.
Currently it's #9 on the Chicago Electronic chart and #122 on the USA Ambient chart on mp3.com.

Wretched Bliss has moved up to #98 on the Chicago Electronic chart too.
Probably riding Slough's coat tails.
However it got up there, I'm proud of that one.
I believe it's my highest charting techno song yet, and it's my first attempt at Happy Hardcore.
Nothing like chart success on your first try.

Well, I hooked up my new mixing board last night.
It's sweet. It's a Vestax PCV-275.
Had both laptops plugged in, getting the feel for it.
Really fun.

Still need to pick up a microphone stand and a little light so I can see what I'm doing at a live performance.

Someone has Bayou as a favorite somewhere, because it has popped up in the Top 50 Chicago Electronic songs again.

Imbibe started getting a lot of listens again for no apparent reason and with no promotion on my part; it's in the Top 50 Chicago Dance songs. I guess that 80's sound is coming back.

Another big surprise is Sordid (my experimentation with rhythm and blues); it's on the Top 50 Chicago Rhythm And Blues chart. Not bad for an electronica guy.

Received an invite to perform in Madison, WI, from Digital Harmony for end of August.

Might not be able to make it due to travel to Montreal. Sure hope I can, and even if I can't I take it as a compliment just being asked.

By the way, make sure to check out Digital Harmony's stuff at the link above. Really good. Has inspired me to start laying my own vocal tracks over some of my songs.
