It's time for a full blown publishing contract with raw42 in England.

'Brevity' was accepted by the British company I'm working with a couple of days ago.
'Anthracite' was rejected today.
I've just uploaded 'Face'.
We'll see how that goes.

Maybe one of these will be off. As I recall reading, Moby got his "start" (or kickstart) when a handful of his songs were featured in commercials.

Cool beans.

Friggin' cool!

A British company accepted one of my demos ('Brevity') to try to promote to TV companies there!

I will be faxing over a non-exclusive agreement for the track Monday!

Click here to listen to the song now.

How do I put together a song?

Generally the process works with me finding a loop that I like. Just a single loop.
I usually paint out a minute's worth in Acid then start figuring out which other loops go with it.

This is a pseudo random process.

Often I start with drums, then bass, then high range loops then medium range loops.
After I find 6-8 loops that work well together, I start arranging them in different combinations in different orders.

Once the general arrangement of the song is done I listen to it 3-4 times, rearranging, tweaking and adding different effects.

I cut parts of loops to add variation. I pound on the loops in Sound Forge. I slice and dice them with Chopper.

I shake. I stir. I shake. I bake.
Then I shake again.

The first of my demos would have shipped out FedEx today if I could have found the damn record companies' phone numbers. Looks like I'll get the demos out via regular mail tomorrow unless FedEx decides they can take the packages without phone numbers.

One of these days when I get another copy of Photoshop I need to crank out some CD covers and split up all the songs tagged as on the 'Miscellaneous' CD. I figure I have enough for at least 2 CDs. I'm going to have one which is all trance and another which is all drum'n'bass and ambient. I figure I'll call the trance CD 'Goa A Go Go' and keep 'Miscellaneous' as the title of the drum'n'bass CD.

I just uploaded 'Savitur' to my mp3 site. It's my first real effort at goa trance. I've finally broken into my World Pop loop CD. Lots of fun stuff there.

I have a theory that if a 2-year old dances to a song then people should like it in a club. I'm not sure what this says about clubkids - or 2-year olds.

I've determined that if a song gives my wife a headache then it will chart well on mp3.com.

This is my first attempt at blogging. I am curious as to how well it works. This seems like it should be an interesting place to enter my thoughts as I compose songs and attempt to promote my 'fake band' D R E A M D A Z E on the web. We'll see how it goes.
