:: Thursday, October 31, 2002 :: Just updated my radio station on the site. Follow the 'Radio Station' link and look towards the bottom for new songs I've added by The Knotts, Aerial2012, ean | productions and Gilles Vittecoq - all fine mp3.com artists.:: Wednesday, October 30, 2002 :: Uploaded a new song to raw42 today for consideration for publiciation. Song is titled 'Illumined Pleasures' and should be available on mp3.com this weekend or soon after (still have to finish up new CD art)...:: Tuesday, October 29, 2002 :: Old Junk, the "latest" CD by D R E A M D A Z E is now available on mp3.com. In addition, all prices on CDs have been reduced to $7.99 (cheap!). Placid Abstraction is currently 46 on the Chicago Electronic chart and number 10 on the Chicago Ambient chart.:: Sunday, October 27, 2002 :: I'm surprised by some of the song appearances in the latest rankings. A couple of techno and trance songs from my Swamp CD have hit the charts. Swamp was a fairly interesting experiment for me. It was a transition CD. I had just begun experimenting in the ambient realm on Glacial and decided that it would be interesting to mix it up a bit. On Swamp I begin with an ambient song in the key of A (Bog), and then using one or two of the loops from the first song, I shift keys to B and morph into a techno song (Marsh). I continue in the same vein of moving some loops forward to the next song and alternating keys and styles for the entire CD. Of course, each song is named by a synonym for Swamp in order to maintain the "theme". So without further delay... All right, so nothing gets done when you have guests in for the weekend...but I did at least work on my 'Hermetic' song long enough to realize I'm probably going to trash it. I might be able to salvage the weird ambient dissonance I have going on, but I definitely need to replace the bass lines I'm using, and if I do that, then the drums are in question too. Damn.:: Friday, October 25, 2002 :: I think tonight is going to be one of those nights when I stay up with a pot of tea after everyone else has gone to bed and work on CD art for Technique and maybe add some new songs to my radio station. If the urge takes me, I'll work on the song I started in August on a lake in rural Maine.:: Thursday, October 24, 2002 :: Well, not a lot of promotion and/or creation going on these days. Morphological is going to be put forward for a UK commercial, but that's about it. Not holding my breath, but at least it's a shot. I REALLY need to have 24 hours without distraction so that I can finish up 2 songs that are in process, finalize my CD art for Technique, and go through my voluminous email and add people to my radio station (and maybe have them add me to theirs in return).:: Wednesday, October 23, 2002 :: Bayou is hanging on in the Chicago Electronic Chart at number 93. It's also number 13 on the Chicago Ambient Chart.:: Tuesday, October 22, 2002 :: Bayou has jumped up to number 44 on the Chicago Electronic Chart and number 8 on the Chicago Ambient Chart. Bayou is an ambient song composed of several different ambient tones and percussion bits mixed in with heavily fx-ed guitars and bass fx's.:: Monday, October 21, 2002 :: Hey! Ho! Chthonic Cerumen is number 87 on the Chicago Electronic Chart, number 3 on the Chicago Down Tempo Chart and number 2 on the Chicago Trip Hop Chart!:: Sunday, October 20, 2002 :: A couple of old trance songs off the Glacial Tumult CD have garnered a few listens (enough to get them into the top 50 of the highly competitive Chicago Trance charts anyway). I always get a kick out of old songs getting listens out of the blue!:: Saturday, October 19, 2002 :: If you're gonna make a move:: Friday, October 18, 2002 :: My latest CD Miscellaneous is now available on the site.:: Wednesday, October 16, 2002 :: There seems to be a spike in demand for 20-minute techno songs. 6 Apparitions Of Lenin In A Cowfish Opus, Opus To Zarathustra And Misc Cowfish and Cowfish Opus To The 5 Rings Of Musashi rank 10, 11 and 12, respectively, on the highly competitive Chicago techno charts. These songs represent my "toe-dipping" into the processes of "automatic music". I developed a 10 minute structure that repeats twice in each song then used the same structure with different (though similar) loops to generate the three songs.:: Tuesday, October 15, 2002 :: Testing. Testing. 1 2 3.:: Monday, October 14, 2002 :: We've got no war to name us.:: Sunday, October 13, 2002 :: Putting the finishing touches on my Miscellaneous CD finally. It will be ready sooner than later hopefully. The CD includes my last attempts at trance and techno before I found my down tempo calling. 3 songs in the Chicago Electronic Top 100 - not a bad performance. Looks like some of my local promotion has paid off a little. I had some business cards printed up a while back, and now wherever I go, I leave some behind. Yesterday I distributed quite a few. I left some at a fencing tournament at Northwestern University in the morning - and then I distributed a few more at a restaurant in Chicago last night. What follows are the results...:: Saturday, October 12, 2002 :: Illumined Pleasures...:: Friday, October 11, 2002 :: Going to a charity event on 'The Spirit Of Chicago' tomorrow evening. Burning a CD of my raw42 accepted tracks right now. Will talk to the Event Planner (brother of a co-worker) about possibly using me as a down tempo DJ at some of his events. Will give him a copy of the CD I'm burning now as a set sample. Use my usual trick of ramping up from 70 BPM to a climax of 112 BPM then back down to 80 BPM to finish over 52 minutes. Not a bad sample set. Will see what happens.:: Thursday, October 10, 2002 :: Premature Ossification, a trip hop song featuring lots of organs and really crisp drums, was accepted by raw42 today.:: Wednesday, October 09, 2002 :: On another note, Atmosherocephalic and Morphological have received some attention from raw42 customers (listens anyhow). Premature Ossification is number 66 on the Chicago Electronic chart and number 5 on the Chicago Down Tempo chart.:: Monday, October 07, 2002 :: Rankings. Rankings. Rankings.:: Sunday, October 06, 2002 :: Tommy Lee is my inner rockstar according to emode.com. We grew up way too fast We are the tabloid generation.:: Saturday, October 05, 2002 :: Loaded up Acid 4.0 on my latest Dell laptop. Haven't got it onto the old one yet (the one I'm typing now). Will try to get that going tomorrow and maybe finish off the song I'm working on plus finally finalize Miscellaneous (CD) and Technique (CD). Who knows what will happen?:: Friday, October 04, 2002 :: Les jeux sont faits. Nach dem Spiel ist vor dem Spiel. Premature Ossification, a trip hop song featuring organs, whacko synths and some pretty crisp drums, is now available on mp3.com.:: Thursday, October 03, 2002 :: Long time. No rankings. So now time for rankings.:: Wednesday, October 02, 2002 :: Had a great punk rock weekend (last weekend). Went to see the Suicide Machines at the Metro; they were there with Gob and Guttermouth. Of course, my friend and I were the oldest one's there, but we had a great time.:: Tuesday, October 01, 2002 :: Instead of an open mind
